Diovan HCT is a combination medicine used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). Lowering blood pressure may lower your risk of a stroke or heart attack. Hydrochlorothiazide is a thiazide diuretic (water pill) that helps prevent your body from absorbing too much salt, which can cause fluid retention. Valsartan is an angiotensin II receptor antagonist. Valsartan keeps blood vessels from narrowing, which lowers blood pressure and improves blood flow. Diovan HCT is usually given after other blood pressure medicines have been tried without success. Use this medication regularly to get the most benefit from it. Keep taking this medication even if you feel well. Most people with high blood pressure do not feel sick.
Always read the patient information and instructions carefully before using this medication.
