What is Simbrinza?

Simbrinza Ophthalmic Suspension (Brinzolamide/Brimonidine Tartrate) is an eye drop used to decrease pressure inside the eye. Simbrinza can be used to treat open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension.

Please read the instructions carefully and follow your doctor’s directions

  • Do not use while wearing contact lenses
  • Wait 15 minutes after using Simbrinza before putting contact lenses back on
  • Wash your hands before using Simbrinza eye drops
  • Shake before using
  • Use only the number of drops prescribed by your doctor
  • For more than one drop, wait five minutes between drops

Cautions

Make sure your doctor is notified if you have:

  • Kidney disease
  • Liver disease
  • Congestive heart failure
  • Coronary artery disease
  • A history of stroke or blood clot
  • High or low blood pressure
  • Circulation problems
  • Narrow-angle glaucoma
  • An allergy to sulfa drugs, brimonidine, or brinzolamide

Side Effects of Simbrinza

Common side effects of Simbrinza include:

  • Blurred vision
  • Mild itching and redness in the eyes
  • Dry mouth

Stop using Simbrinza and talk to your doctor if you experience:

  • Sudden liver failure, characterized by nausea, vomiting, itching, fatigue, appetite loss, dark urine, jaundice, confusion, and rapid weight gain.
  • Bone marrow suppression, characterized by sudden fever, chills, mouth sores, swollen gums, sore throat, trouble swallowing, light-headedness, rapid heart rate, and difficulty focusing.
  • Severe skin reaction, characterized by fever, sore throat, face swelling, burning eyes, purple rash, skin pain, blistering or peeling.
