What is Tobrex Eye Drops?

Tobrex Eye Drops are used to treat bacterial infections of the eyes and will not treat a viral or fungal infection of the eye.

In mild to moderate eye infections, Tobrex Eye Drops are usually applied to the affected eye(s) 2 or 3 times per day. Follow all the instructions carefully mentioned on the prescription. To apply Tobrex eye drops 0.3%:

  • Tilt your head back.
  • Place a finger on your cheek just under your eye and gently pull down until a ''V'' pocket is formed between your eyeball and your lower lid.
  • Place a small amount of Tobrex Eye Drops 0.3% in the ''V'' pocket. Do not let the tip of the tube touch your eye.
  • Look downward before closing your eye.

Before Taking Tobrex Eye Drops

Before taking Tobrex Eye Drops, tell your doctor if you have the following:

  • An allergy to similar antibiotics, such as amikacin,
  • Medical history
  • Pregnant and breastfeeding

You should not use Tobrex Eye Drops if you have a viral or fungal infection in your eye.

Tobrex Eye Drops Side Effects

Tobrex eye drops may cause side effects. Tell your doctor if any of these symptoms are severe or do not go away:

  • eye tearing
  • itching, stinging or burning of the eye
  • swelling of the eye
  • temporary blurred vision.

Is it safe to drive when using Tobrex eye drops?

Tobrex eye drops may cause temporary unstable vision. Do not drive, use machinery, or do any activity requiring clear vision until you can safely perform such activities.

Can you use Tobrex eye drops while wearing contacts?

Do not use Tobrex eye drops while wearing contact lenses. It may contain a preservative that can discolor soft contact lenses. Wait at least 15 minutes after using this medicine before putting in your contact lenses.

What are the side effects of Tobrex eye drops?

Hypersensitivity and localized ocular toxicity, including lid itching and swelling, and conjunctival erythema may occur.
